Whale watching

14th October 2010
Well Captain Stormchaser has done it again.  We awoke this morning to the sound of the sea gently splashing our balcony window. That sounds OK until you realise that our cabin is on the eighth floor. As I write this we’re not yet in the Bay of Biscay so it should be an interesting day ahead. Janet’s gone to her painting class. I think she’ll just have to hold her brush still and let the paper move from side to side.  Braemar is a lovely ship but ‘stability in high seas’ was way below ‘nice large bathrooms’ on the Naval Architect’s list of priorities. Even the crew refer to it euphemistically as a ‘warm weather ship’.
The rough weather has put a stop to whale watching which, as blog followers will know, is an important part of my onboard activities.  Fortunately, as we sailed away from the Canary Islands, I managed to spot two of these magnificent creatures playing happily in the warm waters underneath our balcony.
