Blog-followers have suggested that I occasionally enhance photographs. I admit that the one where the giant octopus attacked the ship and ate the Entertainments Officer was touched up a bit but I usually take photo journalism very seriously. A picture is worth 1000 words, particularly if you are the one who has to write them.
So, to be completely honest, I have to admit that on this trip we’ve got a bit of a problem. The Braemar hasn’t got wifi to the cabins because it’s an old ship. That’s not entirely true because there’s a bit in the middle that was only added a couple of years ago and it’s just the ends that are old. It’s what’s known in the trade as a cut and shut and it was probably hard enough to get it to steer in a straight line without having to bother with unnecessary wiring.
This means that we have to blog from the ship's computer room. For some strange reason they won’t let people like me stick things in their computers and so there’s no way to download pictures from our camera. To get around this problem Janet had the brilliant idea of building an on-line photo library of all the things that we might possibly see on this holiday. Then all we will have to do when we need a picture is to pick the nearest one from the library and blog away. For the last couple of weeks she’s been collecting pictures of all the tourist spots we might possibly visit in all the weather condition we might possibly encounter and sticking them on Mr Google’s cloud. She’s even uploaded one of her in the swimming pool just in case we have a very hot shady day with no one on deck.
Last week, after a bottle of excellent red wine, I offered to help –

We’ve just discovered that we can actually log on with our laptop in a hot spot next to the computer room. So now we can download real photographs as well as using the ones in Janet’s library. Just for fun we’ll leave you to guess which is which.
