Rough Seas and Mal-de-mer

Friday 8th October
Well, as I write this, we’ve been at sea for almost three full days, and the weather has been wet and wild all the way.  We’ve not been able to get internet contact, so are a little behind with our blogging!
Our Norwegian captain gives a daily weather report at noon each day, and sounded most sheepish today when he had to announce to us that the next 24 hours is going to continue pretty much the same again, and that it will probably be raining when we reach Madeira .  It really has been much rougher than any of our previous cruises, and we’ve all suffered to varying degrees.    We’ve managed to join in a few activities, and all went to the show last night to watch a ‘comedian’, but haven’t yet settled into our usual pattern of eat, drink and eat some more.
We’re all agreed though that Braemar is a lovely ship, and her crew are truly exceptional.  The waiters, housekeeping and bar staff seem happy in their work, and make us feel that they want to do whatever they can to give us a good holiday.  Our cabins are very nice – and the balconies are large, with more than enough furniture should the weather ever be good enough to use them!
